Well, it's been forever since i posted last. i'm sorry about that! i havent been too excited about posting about my life lately, i've been pretty tired and worn down and blogging hasnt been at the forefront of my mind.
Over Thanksgiving i was able to go home to Rochester and that was really good for me. i think that living in New Orleans had worn me down quite a bit and it was good to get my bearings a little before heading back, even if i wouldve been home for Christmas 3 weeks later.
Right before Thanksgiving break i was able to attend the Red River Region's (to which i belong now, no longer the Northeast) staff conference and meet my colleagues from around the region. It was fun to be recharged and to see other people committed to the same things that i am: the spread of the gospel, the display of God's love, and the propagation of His hope.
In between Thanksgiving and Christmas our team was able to throw a Christmas party for our neighbors. There i was able to meet with Curvin, a 34 year old that has been through quite a bit. It was great chatting with him and i feel like we really connected. He has such a good heart and seeks to serve God and the people around him. He told me all about visiting his son in Indiana about twice a month, rebuilding his house while he rents out his other finished house and stays in his trailer, and taking food to the homeless that live under the highway bridge every 2 weeks. The first time i met him, we had mowed about 20 square feet of his lawn between the sidewalk and the roadway and he went out and bought five of us cold powerade and snacks. He has such a big heart.
i was able to come back to Rochester for Christmas. Honestly, flying back over Rochester and seeing those warm yellow streetlights reflect off of snowplowed roads and partly shoveled sidewalks was exciting for me. i do actually love snow and cold weather! Plus it's good to feel like i havent completely wimped out by acclimating to warm weather.
Christmas was fun, it was good to be with my family and friends. i'm realizing how difficult it is to keep up with everyone since i've been away, but i'm relieved that it's fairly easy to pick up where i left off.
Soon i'll be headed to Boston for the Northeast regions annual conference where i'll be able to connect with old friends from my internship last year and students that i met on summer project in Maine. IT should be a blast!
And then i fly out for New Orleans straight from Boston, and then a week in New Orleans, and then...
MEXICO!
